Michael Thomas Bentley, 69, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away Saturday, January8, 2022 surrounded by friends and family. Mike was born in Macon, Georgia on August 5, 1952 and graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a long time resident of Gadsden and retired from the Gadsden Water Works and Sewer Board after many years of service.

Mike loved taking care of his many animals he adopted over the years and was very instrumental in changing Gadsden city ordinances to allow exotic pets such as potbellied pigs. He also loved playing games on his XBOX and loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle for many years.

Mike was preceded in death by mother Valda Bailey Bentley of Jonesboro, Georgia and his father, Haywood Bentley of Cummings, Georgia, and nephew Adam Hasty of Forest Park, Georgia. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Brenda Blackwood Bentley, daughter Jazmine Bentley, sons Jonathan (Sarah) Lewis, and Jason Lewis, grand-daughters Jordan Lewis and Leah Lewis, brother Johnny (Judy)Little, all from Gadsden, sisters Glenda Hasty of Forest Park, Georgia, Becky (Bill) Boso of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Cindy Norton, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his fur babies and constant companions Dolly, Rebel, and Ace.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Debora Reiland and staff, UAB hospital and staff, Encompass Hospice Care, and DeKalb Ambulance Service. A memorial service is planned at a later date due to Covid-19.
