Karen Beehler Cavender, 62, passed away on September 11, 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Karen Beehler Cavender was born on April 22, 1959 in South Bend, IN to Larry and Carolyn Louise Beehler.

Karen graduated from Madison Heights High School in Anderson, IN in 1977. She went on to attend Anderson University and Indiana University.

She started her career working in banking and went on to become director of word processing for the Department of Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She went on to become a full-time homemaker.

Karen married Cary Cavender and on June 22, 1985 in Duke Chapel in Durham, NC. They went on to have three children: Cristy, married to Chad Burris (Nixa, MO), Kevin, married to Mindy Cavender (Memphis, TN), and Kyle (Memphis, TN).

Karen was best known for her infectious laughter, fierce love, and devoted friendship. She excelled in hospitality and cake decorating. She loved to sing and was on the Praise Team at church and went to Panama twice with Praise Team mission tours. Her favorite occupation was being a professional GiGi to her grandkids.

Karen is survived by her husband, Cary Cavender, three children, Cristy and her husband Chad Burris, Kevin and his wife Mindy Cavender, and Kyle Cavender. Also four grandchildren - Ava Burris, Lexi Burris, Brooks Burris, and Elaina Cavender. She is also survived by her father, Larry Beehler, and mother-in-law, Jeanie Cavender; her two sisters, Nancy Etchison and husband Carl, as well as Sandra Francis and her husband Greg.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Louise Beehler, and her father-in-law, Finis Lynn Cavender.

The memorial service for Mrs. Karen Beehler Cavender will be held on Saturday September 18, 2021 at Crossbridge Church, 3039 Brook Highland Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35242.
Visitation/receiving will be from 1-2 PM at the same location. All are invited to attend.

Note: The family has requested all attendees wear a mask for the protection of several high risk family members.
