Private graveside services for relatives and close friends will be held 2 PM Saturday, October2, 2021 at Young’s Chapel Congregational Methodist Cemetery, Piedmont Highway for Robert Glenn Lankford, age 81 who passed away Saturday September 18, 2021. Bro. Eddie Gooch and Wayne Phillips with officiate. Family request that all attendees wear a mask and keep their social distance. Alabama Cremation and Funeral Services is in charge.
Glenn was a member of Hokes Bluff First United Methodist Church and Dewey Ryan Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School Class of 1958. He was a member of Hokes Bluff Lions Club. He served as 34- I Lions International District Governor 1993-94.
Glenn began his work career at Republic Steel with 41 years until the plant closed in 2000. He continued to work with Etowah County Sheriff’s Department, Etowah County Transportation Department, Gadsden State Community College where he was still employed. His hobbies were deer hunting, gardening where he could share his bounty with neighbors.
He was Preceded in death by parents: Robert and Asalee Kilgo Lankford; brothers: Jerry and Tom Lankford; daughter: Julie Lankford Rich.
Survivors include his little bride of 62 Years: Sue Buffington Lankford; son: Keith Alan Lankford; son-in law: Gary Rich; sister-in-law: Tan Lankford; grandchildren: Tyler Rich, Amy Rich Himes, Veronica Rich Phair; great-grandchildren: Ryan Himes, Anna Himes, Emma Phair, Maddie Phair; other relatives and host of friends.
