Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Fannie Ruth Hewitt, age 94, of Pawnee, Alabama left her earthly home to dwell in the house of her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2022. She is now reunited with her parents and siblings who have been patiently awaiting her arrival - a sweet reunion indeed. Her parents, William G. and Ollie Massey Hewitt; and her siblings, Willie Mae Langley, William Price Hewitt, Jewel Ragsdale, Doris Smith, and Jean Lackey all preceded her in death. She is survived by her nieces, nephews and their families.
She loved traveling. One of her most rewarding adventures was going on a mission trip to Africa for several months. She was also known for taking road trips to the beach in her convertible with her friends. Above all, spending time with family brought her the most joy. After retiring from South Central Bell, she lived life simply. Yet, she has left behind a lifetime of precious and unforgettable memories. To know her is to love her and she will be dearly missed by many.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00am. This celebration of life will take place at Pawnee Baptist Church (2370 Hewitt Drive, Birmingham, AL 35217) where she had been a faithful member for most of her life. A private burial at Massey Cemetery in Trussville will follow at a later date.
