Jason Junkins is the founder of Alabama Cremation and Funeral Services. Jason began his career in the funeral industry as a high school student and then graduated mortuary school with an AAS in Mortuary Science from Jefferson State Community College in 1988. He then graduated Jacksonville State University with a BS in Biology followed by his MD from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of South Alabama. Since then, he has practiced primary care, urgent care and hospital medicine.
Since beginning practice in 2001, Dr. Junkins has practiced most of his career as a hospice medical director. Seeing the needs of patients and their families at the end of life, he saw the need for an alternative way for families to memorialize their loved ones. This is when he decided to begin Alabama Cremation and Funeral Services. This alternative allows families to memorialize their loved one in the way they choose at a cost substantially less than most traditional funeral homes offer.
Dr. Junkins is married to his wife Angela and they have five children. They love spending time together as a family and traveling to the beach.
